History

Minneapolis Friends Meeting

About 150 years ago, William W. Wales settled in St. Anthony, Minnesota, becoming the first Friend to move to this territory.  Minneapolis Monthly Meeting began meeting regularly five years later and built a Meeting house nine years later.  In view of our sesquicentennial, an ad hoc History Committee was formed to advise the Meeting and recommend projects and events.  They anticipate writing a history of Minneapolis Friends Meeting, both the ongoing Monthly Meeting and the previous Quarterly Meeting, as well as the other Meetings which at different times were part of the Quarterly Meeting or under the care of this Meeting; the following articles are part of that project.  If you have suggestions or information you'd like to share, please contact the Meeting or one of the History Committee members. They are Linda Coffin, Rhoda Gilman, Jim Haefemeyer, Jon Shafer and Louise Ziegler.
