Greenpastures Quarterly Meeting - Sept. 20 at Friends School in Detroit

Greeting Friends and members of Green Pastures Quarterly Meeting Monthly Meetings.

The regular Fall Meeting of GPQM takes place each third Saturday in September at Friends School in Detroit. That is September 20 this year from 9 A.M. to about 4 P.M. Each monthly meeting is asked to have at least some representation at the business meetings in order to take care of GPQM business. Check our website: http://leym.quaker.org/gpqm for a full description and information. At this meeting we will be looking forward especially to welcoming Friends from Holland Friends Meeting, our newly recognized Monthly Meeting in GPQM!

Since GPQM is the legal responsible body for Friends School in Detroit each fall we receive the Head Master's report and approve any nominations for their Board of Trustees which according to their by-laws must have a Quaker majority of the membership. Other items of business will be APPROVING THE NEW SLATE OF OFFICERS: CLERK, SHIRLEY BECHILL [Pine River MM]; RECORDING CLERK, TYLER HAMPTON [Detroit MM]; and Treasurer, DEBS ROUSH [Ann Arbor MM]. Also a Treasure's report, report from Michigan Friends Center [which is also under the care of GPQM in some measure], and any other concerns brought to us from the monthly meetings. There are other Quaker Organizations we have relation with that may have some reports for us as well.

We are very pleased that two representatives, Ruah Swennerfelt and Louis Cox, from Quaker Earthcare Witness will be visiting with us. This past year they made a 1400 mile "PEACE FOR EARTH WALK" in the manner of John Woolman's personal visits in the 1700's to talk about freeing slaves. Ruah and Louis emphasized the need for concientious protection of our planet. During the afternoon they will share their message in skit form followed by discussion with us. We are pleased that they will also be sharing with students of Friends School in Detroit on Friday.

PLEASE SPREAD THE NEWS OF THEIR VISIT WITH US SO MORE OF OUR GPQM FRIENDS CAN WITNESS AND WORSHIP WITH US. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED. TO REGISTER EMAIL THE CLERK, SHIRLEY BECHILL AT BECHILL@ALMA.EDU.

BLESSINGS IN PEACE AND LOVE,
Shirley Bechill
