Ad Hoc Committee on Burial

Second Interim Report

February 14, 2010

The Ad Hoc Committee on Burial has met numerous times since it was established in February 2009.� During that time, we have:

- presented an 11:40 Hour (3/22/09) on burial at Mt. Toby;

����������� - presented an interim report to the Monthly Meeting (7/12/09), recommending that the meeting affirm the acceptability of �green� burial in its burial ground.� The Meeting did so;

- offered changes to the Handbook Committee for the 2010 edition;

- begun to draft a comprehensive report (with recommendations) for the meeting.� Reflecting both the areas the committee was appointed to investigate and our own discernment, we envision a report that addresses several aspects of burial, including pastoral care, legal requirements, physical burial, record-keeping, and communication/advance planning.

We are mindful that we were asked to complete our work within a year.� We report that our work is not yet finished, but that it soon will be, and we respectfully request a four-month extension to our charge.� We anticipate offering our full report to the Monthly Meeting in June 2010.�
