FALL, 2000: Volume 5 Issue 3

From the Editor

For this issue I wanted to do a follow-up to the last one which spoke about how Friends Meetings support individual Friends with a leading, from the experience of individual Friends. What the writers submitted wasn’t always exactly what I expected, but I think it is useful to see how their Leadings were developed. We have some accounts for the Clearness and Support process. What we don’t have, and I would be very interested in receiving, are accounts of the Oversight process. We believe that the three processes are distinct, and consider the description by Canada Yearly Meeting of each as a very good guide. This is in Organization and Procedure, and is available on the Web at http://www.nyym.org/leadings/canada.html

FPTP has officially decided to undertake support of peacebuilding in Colombia. We are offering materials and connections with the Sanctuaries of Peace program of the Mennonite Church of Colombia, which was described in our last issue. Please call 210-532-8762 or e-mail me at [email protected] for more information about this if you are interested. We’ve formed a Consultative Group to consider further leadings to work in Colombia, and ask that you hold the Consultative Group in the Light.

FPTP’s Coordinating Committee will be meeting in Greensboro, North Carolina, Oct. 5-8. Please join us for a public presentation and potluck Friday, Oct. 6, at Friendship Friends Meeting. Call Dave MacInnes at work at 336 316-2262 for more information. Please contact me (at the contact number/e-mail address above) if you are interested in attending our working sessions.
