Reports from Governmental and Intergovernmental Organizations
Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate
Change
(IPCC) is the official information source on global climate change. The
IPCC was established in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization
(WMO)
and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to assess the
available
scientific, technical, and socio-economic information in the field of
climate
change.
Our queries ask us about stewardship: we are facing global
environmental
catastrophes from our use of fossil fuel. Our testimonies tell us to
take
away the occasions that lead to war: energy and water are expected to
be
two major causes of war this century. Our testimonies speak of
equality: we emit more than our share of greenhouse gases, in a world
that must limit this behavior. Our testimonies say that
we will not fight with outward weapons, yet our lifestyle itself is
killing
large numbers.
How You Can Help
Become informed, and let others know what you learn. Don't skip
this step--we give time to what we love.
Set up sessions
for you and others to learn more about the science, and the individual
changes and policies that can make a difference.
We can offer advice on setting up sessions. We can even contribute
a visitor to your discussions. And please let us know about the
discussion.
Take on projects
Research energy policy, environmental policy, and energy and
land use.

Who are We in Friends Energy
Project?
Friends Energy Project was initiated by Karen Street and Peter
Trier,
both long-time Quakers and members of Berkeley Monthly Meeting of the
Religious
Society of Friends, Pacific Yearly Meeting (unprogrammed). They have
worked
closely with others in Berkeley Monthly Meeting, in Pacific Yearly
Meeting,
and throughout the United States on energy and environmental concerns
since
1996.
Since then, many F/friends everywhere have contributed their ideas
and
efforts.
No Friend represents all Friends. The ideas expressed are those of
the
authors.
