Meeting was opened in silence.
Minutes for
April were amended to list as separate items the Blues Society Report and
Bonni’s request for Meeting’s consideration to partner in the Sustainable
Kanawha Valley Initiative.
Treasurer’s
Report is attached.
Peace and Social Justice
- The Friends General Conference Gathering
Committee will meet four times before the Annual Gathering in Blacksburg, VA next summer. Conni has registration forms if you
are interested in helping plan the annual gathering in Blacksburg next
summer.

- There are opportunities to learn about and
become involved in issues of interest to Quakers at the AFSC and FCNL
websites.
- It’s not too late to register for SAYMA’s Annual
meeting June 11-15 at Asheville, NC.
SAYMA.org will have more information.
- We were the first Meeting to respond to FCG’s
queries on global warming, and they were pleased to receive our
comments.
- AFSC’s reorganization is proceeding-this affects
only the Philadelphia office.
- There will be a gathering to celebrate Joan
Hairston’s decades of service to the AFSC Logan project on June 21.
- Anyone interested in religious education is
encouraged to attend the FGC Education gathering in August.
Inreach/outreach
materials from FGC are designed to help meetings grow. We will schedule a discussion on this
material.
The WV Fall
Gathering- This is information is from the Monongalia
Meeting:
“We need a committee to organize the activities for both adults and
children. If you are willing to
help please contact Christine at monquakers@mac.com.
The annual Gathering will be Saturday, 9/20-Sunday, 9/21 at Jackson’s Mill near Jane
Lew, arriving by 1 p.m. Saturday and leaving by 1 p.m. Sunday. Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast
will be in the Mill’s main dining room.
But we need to bring snacks.
We will be in Kanawha cottage that has 2 dormitory style sleeping areas
and a meeting room. Cost will be
$30 each (children 3 and under are free at the Mill). Program details, registration forms,
etc. are on the way, but we do need an idea of numbers and a deposit of $15 per
person as soon as possible. Please

Various correspondences were shared,
including copies of the AFSC regional newsletter, MARSTAR, and are
available at Meeting .
Bible study will be held on Wednesday,
May 14 and 28, at the Wellons’ at 7 p.m. We are studying the book of
Matthew.
