RESOURCES

Originally intended as a garage, the Resources Room is now a room that is light and airy with shelves taking up every available bit of wall space in order to accommodate a collection of over 2000 books, as well as the large number of periodicals (local and international) covering all aspects of social issues including conflict handling, mediation training, peace and security, rural development, youth work and human rights issues. There is also a large collection of video material covering the anti-apartheid struggle.

The Resources Room also acts as an information centre where staff can make enquiries regarding new publications as well as existing literary material relating to their particular field of work. Transactions regarding the Centre's materials for sale (i.e. peace series booklets, bumper stickers etc.) are also handled by Resources.

Looking ahead, it is hoped that in the near future we will be able to link up with other organisations who have similar aims and objectives as ourselves, with a view to exchanging ideas and experiences.

The Resources Room also acts as a ‘quiet’ place, where staff can take time off from their busy schedule to relax and catch up on news from the daily newspapers.
