2.15.04
3.
The
matter of the schedule for our Meeting for Business was discussed.
For some months now we have scheduled these meetings on a monthly
basis. Friends want to
continue this schedule because it seems to meet our needs.
At our May Business Meeting we will discuss the schedule for the
months of June, July and August.
4.
The
matter of a presentation and discussion about racism and how it relates to
Quakers was brought forward by Roberta Wilson.
A visiting Friend, Vanessa Julye, will be in our area for 2 weeks
in May, at the invitation of UFM, for whom she is conducting workshops.
She is also available to lead us in a mini-workshop or discussion
which focuses on her insights on racism,
her personal experiences as an African-American Friend, and queries
that we might address regarding racism within our own Meeting. There
was strong support for having her lead a discussion or offer a workshop
with us in May. Friends
approve of offering Vanessa Julye an honorarium of $300, which would come
from our budget or from individual donations for this purpose.
Roberta Wilson will work out the agenda with Vanessa.
