With attention  to Business

May 15, 2005

Present:  Lorena Bruff, Judy Brown, Lisa Down, Bob Major, Dorothy and Jim Rana Meadows, Michael Moore, Clerk

Meeting noted the death of Dan Boyd, several months ago.

Meeting noted with good wishes for recovery the  illness of Sada Ross for which she is returning to India for treatment.

Meeting noted that Virginia Barnett is feeling isolated.  It was suggested  that she might appreciate some contact with members of the meeting.

FIRST DAY SCHOOL  Meeting was asked to consider the fact that sometimes on the first Sunday of the month there are so many children that the kitchen as a meeting place does not work well, and they might be better off in the main school room.  For the time being, it was suggested that if the children are too numerous for the kitchen, they could be outside while the weather is warm.  New arrangements might well have to be made in the winter months.

NATIONAL GUARD: Craig Jacobrown  has agreed to contact the pastor in Port Orchard  who is initiating a support group to investigate the needs of  National Guard members who are called up to serve abroad.  They are asked to go without the support systems of other military who are sent abroad.

EVAN WELKIN’S travel to visit meetings on the eastern seaboard has begun.  Evan has received a grant from the Clarence and Lily Pickett Fund for Quaker Leadership and is interested in theological differences and influences in these meetings, and how this might influence their architecture. We are hoping on May 29 to have  a conference call with a loud speaker at the rise of meeting so that the entire meeting will have a chance to hear from Evan while he is on the road.

APPRECIATION was expressed  to our outgoing Clerks and Committee Members for the job they have done faithfully and well.

Meeting closed at 12:55  with silence.

Judy Brown, Recording Clerk
