Agate Passage Friends Meeting

Autumn Gatherings to Explore Friends Testimonies

Community  -  Simplicity  -  Peace -  Equality -  Personal Ministry

Starting Wednesday - September 10, 2008

Prior to each gathering, Friends will be asked to think about the Testimony and prepare a query that has personal meaning and might also resonate with the Meeting as a whole.  For example, for the gathering on Simplicity, a query might be

"Do I live my life in harmony with the environment, endeavoring not to waste Earth's resources?"

At the gathering on that Testimony, a facilitating Friend will guide a discussion based on the queries submitted.  Resident historian on the roots of the Testimony will be Lorena Bruff.

These Gatherings are meant to be open-hearted and open-minded.  The usual schedule will be: a simple meal at 6:30 PM followed by discussion at 7:00 PM and adjournment at 9:00 PM ("Quaker Midnight).

Agate Passage Friends Spiritual Poetry Programs

We have many poetry lovers and some poetry writers in our Agate Passage Meeting.

On the First Sunday of the month those who want to look at and read spiritual poetry will meet at 9:00 am.

Each session will be facilitated by someone who will choose no more than three of their favorite poems with a spiritual bent and bring them in writing to be distributed and read by the group. After reading the poems aloud, we will talk about our experience of the poems and before we finish, we will read each of them a second time so that our sharing will make them more meaningful.
