WELCOME!

Agate Passage Friends Meeting is a silent Quaker Meeting centered on Bainbridge Island across Puget Sound from Seattle, Washington.

Our Meeting was formed in 1981 as the Indianola-Bainbridge Island Friends Worship Group. John and Annie Hanson moved to Indianola in the late '70's, having lived on San Juan Island where they participated in a Quaker group. Families in Indianola started gathering 'in the manner of Friends' as a result, but our Meeting didn't actually take root till 1981. We came 'under the care' of University Friends Meeting of Seattle in 1985. There were various other Quaker efforts on the Island at different times, but they had no connection with this particular Agate Passage Meeting.

Our Meeting is dedicated to sustaining traditional Quaker values and practices, and includes those of many spiritual paths, united in the Quaker belief that "there is that of God" in everyone.

All are welcome to Meetings for Worship, held weekly on Sunday at 10 a.m. at Seabold Community Center on Bainbridge Island.  A fellowship period follows our silent meeting from 11 AM 'til Noon. Please see our meeting schedule.  Meeting for Business Minutes are also available to members and regular attenders.

Please call (360) 697- 4675 for more information.

War is the ultimate rejection of God’s creation

"We know from experience and faith that violence cannot overcome violence, and that cycles of hatred can be interrupted by acts of creative nonviolence, conflict resolution, and courageous love.

Let us all follow the healer’s rule: “First, do no harm.”
Let us use the preeminent power of the United States to change our direction and reject violence, building up international institutions that promote economic and political justice.

In this way, the lives of our children and grandchildren – and their contemporaries the world over – can be liberated from the terror and threat our present generation is enduring."
